On the occasion of the review 'Photobooks | Dialogues on books and images' curated by Giulia Viale, I will present the book “Sinomocene” at the Palazzo Ducale in Genoa together with Matteo Macor.
Sinomocene (Artphilein, 2022) is a "data-driven" project that takes its cue from the documentation of China's "Belt and Road" or "New Silk Road" initiative to investigate more broadly the themes of new forms of colonialism, globalisation and the relationship between powers and individuals. It is a research that began in 2014 and ended in 2021, in which the artist investigates the movement of large amounts of capital linked to geopolitical strategies on both a global and a local level in the desire to make visible a vast social pyramid in which China's enormous financial investment is at its apex, and millions of individuals around the world make up the base.
The volume also includes texts by Ai Weiwei, Viraj Parikh and Miriam Zlobinski.
