At Mario Calabresi’s invitation, I wrote Prove di Esistenza for Strade, the fifth issue of Volume, published by Chora Media and Feltrinelli.
Returning to experiences in Libya in 2011 and Kyiv in 2014, the essay reflects on photography as testimony: travelling to witness events, making images as evidence of an occurrence or an existence, and confronting the limits of what those images can explain.
It also traces a change in my practice: from following events towards investigating the slower, deeper forces that produce them.
