"Sinomocene: The Flow of the Money."
Miriam Zlobinsky interviewed me about my project on the Chinese economic footprint for ReVue.
The title "Sinomocene" is a free combination of ancient Greek and Latin words and, according to Davide Monteleone, explains his work: China, money, and new paths. In an interview with the photographer, Miriam Zlobinski explores how to create a visual experience out of a geopolitical issue.
So, given the aspirations of every country for international influence, your work relates more generally to issues related to so-called "soft power"?
With Sinomocene, my goal is to make visible the vast social pyramid with enormous Chinese financial investments at its top and millions of individuals worldwide at its base. For me, it is a case study for all these movements of money with an agenda.
The effect could also be studied for big companies because today, companies like Amazon or Google have more money than some states. They have the power to intervene in geopolitical issues, even if China or the United States are the focus of public attention at the moment. I can only speculate about what will happen in the so-called "metaverse" for example."
